CSL conducts research on the development of urban ecosystems, optimising urban landscapes and ecosystem services to mitigate climate change.
The research includes:
- Optimising the planning process for urbanised areas to meet EU requirements for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Improving energy efficiency to reduce the environmental impact of urban infrastructure. - Developing and improving new transport infrastructure solutions, including the development and seamless integration of infrastructure elements for sustainable mobility.
- The preservation and development of green infrastructure in the urban environment to ensure ecological balance and public well-being and health.
- Involving the public in the process of creating sustainable urban areas.
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for environmental quality assessment and decision-making in urban areas. - Geo-spatial modelling of urban processes and future forecasting using methods based on geo-information systems (GIS) technology.
- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of products, technologies or services from raw material extraction to final waste management.
The results of the laboratory’s work include not only research, but also the development of competences at university, city, national and international level. CSL aims to become a recognised international centre of excellence, addressing urban challenges for all stakeholders.
