The Institute of Biomedical Engineering’s ‘Physiological Monitoring Systems’ laboratory at the M-Lab will specialise in medical device design and prototyping. In partnership with other laboratories of the Centre, it will develop electronic devices for monitoring and analysis of human physiological and biomechanical processes, and will develop biomedical signal processing and interpretation algorithms and software. The laboratory will focus on wearable and non-contact, patient-friendly technologies. It will include researchers with experience in the development of systems to record jaw movement trajectories, as well as in the monitoring of sleep physiology, physiological parameters in kidney disease patients, gait, swimmers and divers. The M-Lab combines the long-standing experience of the KTU Institute of Biomedical Engineering and partner laboratories, the acquired equipment and young KTU talents to create conditions for the development of advanced, science-based solutions and provide high-level services to business.
